When I told zyxwvut how bleak The Yiddish Poliemen's Union was, he asked me if it was bleaker than Perdido Street Station. I said it wasn't, really, but that it had fewer redeeming qualities. Now, I should say that I didn't think The Scar was as good as Perdido Street Station, but I did like it.
