Wow, I shouldn't be surprised that someone out there is geekier than I am about this stuff.
I think of the differences between these as part of the post-9/11 metaphor in which the entire show is steeped. c.f., how al Qaeda thinks of us Westerners as "godless"; the awful things they've done as they believe to be "God's Will"; etc.
Interesting, fits right in with what I have been saying about moral ambiguity.
